Solid boards are a full 3/4" of red oak, with widths of 2 1/4", 3 1/4" or 4 1/4", and they can be sanded and refinished whenever the finish wears thin. Engineered boards come in 4" or 5" widths and two thicknesses, 18.4 mm and 11.4 mm. Because engineered wood is made in layers, it expands and shrinks less with humidity, a real advantage in a Toronto condo. Next, pick a grade, Excel or Prestige, and a sheen, semi-gloss or ultra-matte. The surface texture is smooth on every version.
