Installing Cathedral Ruins starts with a subfloor check, because hardwood needs a flat, dry base. It is a 3/4" engineered hardwood in European oak from Biyork's Nouveau 6 collection, with planks 6-1/2" wide in random lengths. Its approval covers on, above and below grade rooms, and radiant heat is compatible, so neither a lower level nor a heated floor rules it out. The boards are character grade, showing knots and natural variation, with a wirebrushed texture. Biyork adds an anti-bacterial coating as well. Cathedral Ruins is FloorScore certified for indoor air quality and carries a 30-year residential warranty.
