Caramel 00223 is engineered hardwood: the top 1.2 mm is red oak veneer, and the full plank is 3/8″ thick. Shaw approves it for radiant heat and for rooms above, on or below grade, so it is not limited to main floors. Caramel is part of the EPIC Plus collection, style number SW581. Boards measure 3.25″ across and 11.7″ to 58.5″ in length, with micro-bevelled edges and a smooth surface. The ScufResist Platinum finish has a 20% gloss level, and Shaw rates the boards high for colour variation. Over a wood subfloor we would usually nail or staple it; on concrete, we glue or float it.
