Two Vaughan staircases near our Woodbridge main office: oak and white, and a grey railing with black iron spindles.

Staircase in Vaughan with light oak treads, white risers, white square spindles and an oak handrail and newel post

Quick answer

Vaughan is home ground: our main office is in Woodbridge. Here are two staircases from the city. One pairs light oak treads with white risers and white square spindles under an oak handrail; the other is a landing railing in a grey tone with black iron spindles. A straight flight like these usually runs about $7,000 and three to four days.

Two different looks from the same city, and the choices behind each one. If you are close to Woodbridge, you can also see floors and stair parts in person at our main office; walk-ins are welcome. For everything else we do on stairs, see our staircase renovation guide.

Oak treads, white risers, white spindles

A classic combination. Light oak treads and a matching oak handrail and square newel post carry the wood colour, while the risers and the square spindles are painted white, which keeps a narrow stairwell bright.

A grey railing with iron spindles

The other way to go. Here the newel posts and handrail around the landing are in a grey tone, with black iron spindles between them, a look that suits grey or cool-toned floors.

Planning yours

Pick the floor first and match the treads to it in species, stain and sheen. Our stair stain colours guide shows the common choices, and our spindle guide compares wood, iron and glass.

Carpeted stairs do not need to be torn out: new hardwood treads and risers go over the existing structure, as our carpet to hardwood stairs guide explains. See flooring installation in Woodbridge and Vaughan for the floors that go with them.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a staircase renovation cost in Vaughan?
