A herringbone floor goes down piece by piece, each board set at an angle, so layout and glue work matter more than on straight planks. Carnegie, colour 01028 in Shaw's SW706 Empire Oak Herringbone style, is installed with glue, and we mark layout lines before starting. The pieces are engineered white oak: a 1.2 mm veneer, 1/2″ thick in total and 4.72″ wide. Wirebrushing gives the oak a textured feel, sealed under a low 7% gloss UV aluminum oxide finish, and high colour variation adds movement across the pattern. Edges have a micro bevel. It is approved above, on and below grade, and the country of origin is Indonesia.
