Home’s Pro Flooring Review (2026)
An installer’s look at Home’s Pro: 53 vinyl products in 6.5 to 8 mm, wear layers from 12 to 22 mil, and what they cost installed in Toronto.
Quick answer
Where the numbers come from
Every figure below comes from the spec sheets of the 53 Home’s Pro products on our site as of September 2026. Where a sheet does not state something, we say so rather than fill the gap. We have not run our own wear tests and we do not give star ratings.
The range side by side
This range needs reading carefully
Most of the brands we carry lean one way – mostly 20 mil, or mostly 12. Home’s Pro is genuinely mixed: the single largest group is 12 mil, at 21 of the sheets we hold, with 20 mil on 14 and 22 mil on 6.
That means the brand name tells you nothing about durability. Two Home’s Pro floors side by side at similar thickness can have a wear layer that differs by nearly double. For a hallway, an entry or a rental, ask us to confirm the wear layer before you commit – it is the difference between a floor that looks tired in four years and one that does not.
Embossed in register, on some of it
Sixteen sheets list embossed in register, meaning the texture you feel lines up with the printed grain you see. Thirty-seven list a BP surface instead, which is a plainer finish.
EIR is the main thing separating a convincing vinyl from an obvious one at close range. It makes no difference to durability. Worth choosing in a living room where people look at the floor; irrelevant in a laundry.
What to check before you buy
The wear layer above all – this range spans 12 to 22 mil.
Whether it is EIR or BP surface, if appearance matters in that room.
Subfloor flatness, as with any floating vinyl.
What it costs installed
Floating laminate and click vinyl are from $3.20 per square foot, glue-down vinyl from $5.50 including glue, and engineered hardwood nailed or glued from $4.90 including glue and nails. The flooring is priced separately and the full list is on our flooring installation cost page.

Frequently asked questions
What wear layer does Home’s Pro use?
It varies more than most brands – 12 mil on 21 of the sheets we hold, 20 mil on 14 and 22 mil on 6. The brand name tells you nothing here, so check the specific product before buying, especially for a hallway or a rental.
Are the city collection names meaningful?
No. Venice, Vancouver, Moscow, Madrid and Sweden are simply collection names. They do not indicate where a product is made or where it is sold, and every collection is available to you in the GTA.
What is embossed in register?
The surface texture is aligned with the printed grain, so what you feel matches what you see. It is the main thing separating a convincing vinyl from an obvious one up close. Sixteen Home’s Pro sheets have it; the rest use a plainer BP surface.
How thick is Home’s Pro flooring?
6.5, 7 or 8 mm depending on collection. Thickness affects how solid the floor feels and how well it bridges subfloor dips – it does not affect how well the surface wears, which is the wear layer.
Is Home’s Pro suitable for a rental?
Only the 20 or 22 mil products. The 12 mil sheets, which are the largest group in this range, are too thin for a rental hallway. Ask us to confirm which one you are being quoted.
