PurParket Flooring Review (2026)
An installer's assessment of PurParket PURadria engineered hardwood, based on the manufacturer's spec sheet and not on customer reviews.

Quick answer
Where the numbers come from
Every figure below comes from the spec sheet attached to the 28 PurParket products on our site as of September 2026. All 28 carry the same collection-level sheet. The sheet gives the full list of species, widths and textures for PURadria, but it does not say which colour comes in which. Ask us to confirm that for the colour you pick.
Where the sheet is silent, we say so. We have not run our own wear tests and we do not give star ratings.
PURadria at a glance
An engineered plank has a real oak top layer glued to a core. Here the core is basswood fillets, which are small strips laid across the plank, with a basswood backer underneath. That cross-laid build moves less with humidity than a solid board. It is why the sheet allows concrete and radiant heat. Our guide to engineered vs solid hardwood covers the difference.

What the oil finish means day to day
The sheet lists the surface as PurFlex UV Oil. A UV oil finish sits in the wood more than on top of it. It looks matte and natural.
The practical gain is repair. A scratch or a dull traffic lane in an oiled floor can usually be cleaned and re-oiled in that one spot. A thick lacquer tends to need the whole board, or the whole room, recoated. The trade-off is care. An oiled floor wants the maker’s care routine: the cleaner it recommends, and a maintenance oil when the surface starts to look dry.
Because the top layer thickness is not stated on the sheet, we cannot tell you how many times PURadria can be sanded and refinished. Ask us and we will get the figure from the supplier.
Which PURadria look suits which room
We sell PURadria from plank swatches, not room photos, so we will not describe colours here. Open the swatches, then see a sample in your own light. The names below are a starting point.
- Straight plank: 26 of the 28 product names carry no pattern word. Try Ice SB, Honey Harbour SB, Muskoka SB, Ember RQ, Quarry HS and Sienna HS.
- Herringbone: Napoli SB Herringbone. A pattern floor draws the eye, so it suits a front hall, a dining room or one main room.
- Chevron: Cinder RQ Chevron. Cinder is also listed as a plank, Cinder HS.
The product names carry short codes such as SB, RQ, HS and SH. The sheet uses the grade terms Rustic, SB and Select but does not define the codes in the names, so we will not guess at them. We can confirm the grade and texture of any colour.
Wire brushed and handscraped surfaces hide daily wear better than smooth ones, so they suit kitchens, hallways and homes with dogs. Smooth shows more, which matters less in bedrooms. The 8.5 in and 9.8 in planks suit large open rooms. The 5.5 in and 6 in planks look more in scale in small rooms and corridors.

What to check before you buy
- Humidity control: the sheet asks for 35% to 55% relative humidity, or 40% to 60% for Handscraped Rustic. A heated Toronto house in January can fall well below that, so plan on a humidifier in winter and air conditioning or a dehumidifier in summer. Wide planks move more than narrow ones, so this matters most at 8.5 in and 9.8 in.
- Subfloor flatness: nailed, glued or floated, the floor follows what is under it. Check with a long straightedge. On concrete, test the slab for moisture first.
- Acclimation: follow the maker’s instructions for how long the boxes sit in the house.
- One lot: order the whole job at once, with extra for cuts, and ask for one production lot. Shade varies from run to run. Box coverage is not stated on the sheet, so we confirm box counts when we quote.
- Transitions and stair nosings: the sheet lists nosing, T-moulding, reducer and flush mount vents. Order them with the floor.
What it costs installed
The sheet lists nail, glue and float, so PURadria is installed by 22FLOORING from $4.90 per square foot, glue and nails included. On a plywood subfloor we usually nail. On concrete we glue or float. Herringbone and chevron layouts take longer to lay, so they are quoted individually.
Taking up your old floor is included and the floor itself is priced on top. Subfloor repair, stairs and transitions are quoted per job, and quotes are free. Stairs can be remodelled in matching oak; see our page on staircase renovation in Toronto. For how we install the floor, see our page on engineered hardwood installation in Toronto. Frequently asked questions
Is PurParket flooring engineered or solid hardwood?
Engineered. The PURadria sheet lists engineered flooring with a basswood filleted core and backer under an oak top layer. The thickness of the top layer is not stated on the sheet.
Can PurParket go over radiant heat, on concrete or in a basement?
The sheet lists wood, concrete and radiant heat systems as subfloors and marks the collection radiant heat compliant. Engineered hardwood can go in a basement, but the slab must be tested for moisture first, and the room has to be held inside the maker’s humidity range all year. Follow the maker’s instructions for radiant heat.
How do you maintain an oiled floor?
Sweep or vacuum grit often, since grit does the scratching. Clean with a well wrung mop and the cleaner the maker recommends for oiled floors. Do not use a steam mop or leave water standing. Put felt pads under furniture and mats at the doors. When the surface looks dry or worn, refresh it with a maintenance oil as the maker directs.
Does PurParket come in herringbone?
Yes. Our PURadria list includes Napoli SB Herringbone and Cinder RQ Chevron. Both layouts take longer to lay than straight plank, so we quote them individually.
What is the PurParket warranty?
The sheet lists a 35-year residential warranty and a 10-year light commercial warranty. It does not set out the conditions. Read the maker’s warranty document before you buy, and keep the house inside the stated humidity range.
