Biyork Flooring Review (2026)
An installer’s look at Biyork: 135 products across the Nouveau and HydroGen collections, and what they cost installed in Toronto.

Quick answer
Where the numbers come from
Every figure below comes from the spec sheets of the 135 Biyork products on our site as of September 2026. Where a sheet does not state something, we say so rather than fill the gap. We have not run our own wear tests and we do not give star ratings. Biyork in particular publishes sparse sheets, so several fields below are simply unavailable and we will not invent them.
The two families
The naming is the most useful thing about it
Biyork names by width, which is rare and genuinely helpful. Nouveau 6 is a six inch board, Nouveau 8 is eight. You know the single most important dimension before you open anything.
Width matters more than people expect in Toronto houses. A wide board reads calmer in an open room and shows an out-of-square wall more obviously in a narrow one – and most houses here have walls that are not square. If you are laying in a hallway, the narrower Nouveau 6 is usually the safer choice.
What the sparse sheets mean for you
When a manufacturer does not publish a wear layer or a veneer thickness, we cannot tell you how many times a floor can be refinished or how it will wear in a hallway. That is not a reason to avoid the brand – plenty of good floors come with thin paperwork – but it does mean we ask the supplier before quoting rather than assuming.
If refinishing or heavy traffic matters to you, tell us and we will get the specific figures before you commit. See our engineered versus solid comparison for why veneer thickness is the number that decides it.
What to check before you buy
Nouveau or HydroGen. One is hardwood, the other is the waterproof line.
Width against your room – it is in the collection name.
Ask us for the missing specs before ordering if refinishing or durability matters.
What it costs installed
Floating laminate and click vinyl are from $3.20 per square foot, glue-down vinyl from $5.50 including glue, and engineered hardwood nailed or glued from $4.90 including glue and nails. The flooring is priced separately and the full list is on our flooring installation cost page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Biyork Nouveau and HydroGen?
Nouveau is the engineered hardwood family, named by board width – Nouveau 6, 7 and 8 inch. HydroGen is the waterproof line. If water is a concern, HydroGen is the one to look at.
What do the numbers in Biyork collection names mean?
The board width in inches. Nouveau 6 is a six inch board, Nouveau 8 an eight inch one. It is an unusually clear naming system – most brands make you dig for that figure.
Can Biyork hardwood be refinished?
It depends on the veneer thickness, which Biyork does not publish on every sheet. We will ask the supplier for the specific product rather than guess. If refinishing matters to you, tell us before you order.
Is Biyork HydroGen really waterproof?
It is sold as the waterproof line. As with any waterproof floor, that describes the board – water that gets underneath still has to be dried out, so a leak remains a problem.
Why is there less detail on Biyork than other brands?
Biyork publishes sparser specification sheets than the large manufacturers. We would rather tell you a field is unavailable than fill it with a plausible-sounding number, so this guide is shorter than most of ours.
