GreenTouch Flooring Review (2026)

By 22FLOORING installation team
Updated · 4 min read

An installer’s look at GreenTouch: North American oak, hard maple and hickory in 3/4 inch, plus 8 mm SPC vinyl, and what they cost installed in Toronto.

Quick answer

GreenTouch is a 48-product range at 22FLOORING and mostly hardwood: North American oak, hard maple and hickory, in 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch thicknesses with a tongue and groove profile. Forty-one sheets carry a limited lifetime structural and residential finish warranty, and all 41 are matte. There is also an 8 mm SPC vinyl line. Note that some GreenTouch products are solid rather than engineered despite sitting under an engineered heading on our site, so we read the sheet before quoting. Installed by 22FLOORING, nailed or glued hardwood is from $4.90 per square foot including glue and nails, and click products from $3.20.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure below comes from the spec sheets of the 48 GreenTouch products on our site as of September 2026. Where a sheet does not state something, we say so rather than fill the gap. We have not run our own wear tests and we do not give star ratings.

Check whether it is solid or engineered

This is the one thing to get right with GreenTouch. Some products in this range are solid hardwood, not engineered, even though our category tree files them under engineered headings. A 3/4 inch board with a species and no veneer or core layer stated is usually solid.

It matters because solid hardwood cannot go over concrete and is not rated for below-grade installation. If you are in a condo or a basement, a solid GreenTouch board is the wrong product whatever the category page says. We read the actual sheet before quoting, and we will tell you which one you are looking at. Our engineered versus solid comparison explains why the distinction matters.

Hard maple and hickory are not oak

Eleven sheets each are hard maple and hickory, which is a high proportion for a range this size. Both behave differently from oak.

Hard maple is dense and very pale, with a subtle grain. It takes stain unevenly – blotchiness is a known characteristic – so it is usually best left natural or very lightly finished. Hickory is the hardest common flooring species and has dramatic colour variation board to board, from near-white to deep brown, often in the same box. People either love it or are startled once the whole floor is down.

Neither shows properly in a small sample. Ask to see several boards.

What to check before you buy

Solid or engineered – the critical question, and the category page is not reliable here.

Species before colour – maple and hickory behave very differently from oak.

Your subfloor, because a solid board needs plywood and cannot go on a slab.

What it costs installed

Floating laminate and click vinyl are from $3.20 per square foot, glue-down vinyl from $5.50 including glue, and engineered hardwood nailed or glued from $4.90 including glue and nails. The flooring is priced separately and the full list is on our flooring installation cost page.

Frequently asked questions

Is GreenTouch solid or engineered hardwood?

Both, and this is the thing to check. Some GreenTouch products are solid hardwood despite being filed under engineered headings on our site. A solid board cannot go over concrete or below grade. We read the actual spec sheet before quoting and will tell you which you are looking at.

Can GreenTouch go in a condo?

Only the engineered and SPC vinyl products. Solid hardwood is nailed to a plywood subfloor and a condo sits on a concrete slab. Ask us to confirm which construction your chosen product is before ordering.

What is hard maple like as a floor?

Dense, very pale and subtly grained. It is harder than oak but stains unevenly – blotchiness is a known characteristic of maple – so it is usually best left natural or very lightly finished. Ask to see several boards rather than one sample.

Is hickory a good choice?

It is the hardest common flooring species, so it stands up well to traffic and dogs. The catch is appearance: colour varies dramatically board to board, from near-white to deep brown, often within one box. Some people love that and some are surprised by it once the floor is laid.

What does the lifetime structural warranty cover?

The board itself failing structurally – delamination or splitting under normal domestic use – along with the residential finish. It does not cover wear, dents, water damage or the installation, which carries our own separate two-year warranty.
