Woden Flooring Review (2026)
An installer’s look at Woden Flooring: 98 products, 22 mil wear layers, 5Gi drop-lock click, and what they cost installed in Toronto.

Quick answer
Where the numbers come from
Every figure below comes from the spec sheets of the 98 Woden products on our site as of September 2026. Where a sheet does not state something, we say so rather than fill the gap. We have not run our own wear tests and we do not give star ratings.
The range side by side
A 4 mm veneer is worth paying attention to
Seven hardwood sheets list a 4 mm top layer and six list 3 mm. That is the actual wood above the core, and it is the number that decides whether your floor can be sanded and refinished – and how many times.
At 4 mm you can realistically refinish two or three times, which puts the floor in the same conversation as solid hardwood for longevity. At 3 mm, once or twice. Most engineered hardwood on the market sits at 2 mm or less. If you want a floor your children will still be walking on, this is where to look. See our engineered versus solid comparison.
AB grade and ABC grade
The sheets specify grade alongside the veneer thickness. Grading describes how much natural character the wood shows – knots, colour variation, mineral streaking. AB grade is cleaner and more uniform; ABC includes more character.
Neither is better made. It is entirely a question of whether you want a calm, even floor or one with visible personality. The mistake is choosing from a small sample, which cannot show you the spread across a whole room. Ask to see several boards.
What to check before you buy
22 mil versus 12 mil – both are in this range and the difference in a hallway is years.
Veneer thickness if you care about refinishing.
Grade, and see real boards rather than a sample chip.
What it costs installed
Floating laminate and click vinyl are from $3.20 per square foot, glue-down vinyl from $5.50 including glue, and engineered hardwood nailed or glued from $4.90 including glue and nails. We supply and install Woden across Toronto and the GTA. The flooring is priced separately and the full list is on our flooring installation cost page.

Buying Woden flooring in Toronto
We carry both halves of the Woden range, the vinyl and the engineered hardwood, and install them across Toronto and the GTA, with installers travelling as far as Wasaga Beach, Niagara Falls and Castleton. Woden is a Canadian brand based in Markham, so lead times on the common colours are usually short. Frequently asked questions
What is 5Gi drop-lock?
A click system where the short end of the plank drops into place rather than being tapped along. Fewer damaged board edges during installation and a tighter joint. The floor floats, so installation is $3.20 per square foot rather than $5.50 for glue-down.
How thick is the Woden wear layer?
0.55 mm, which is 22 mil, on 16 sheets – better than the 20 mil most brands treat as their top grade. There is also 20 mil on 12 sheets and 12 mil on 10, so check the specific product.
What does 4 mm top layer mean?
It is the thickness of the real wood above the engineered core, and it decides how many times the floor can be sanded and refinished. At 4 mm, realistically two or three times. Most engineered hardwood sits at 2 mm or less.
What is the difference between AB and ABC grade?
How much natural character the wood shows. AB is cleaner and more uniform; ABC includes more knots and colour variation. Neither is better made – it is a look. Ask to see several boards, because a single sample cannot show the spread.
Is Woden vinyl waterproof?
The vinyl collections are built for wet areas. The engineered hardwood is not a waterproof floor. Woden makes both, so check which you are looking at.
