American Walnut

Origins offers American Walnut as a 7-1/2" wide, 3/4" thick engineered plank in random lengths. Walnut is softer than oak or hickory, so the wirebrushed texture and matte sheen do useful work here, blending in the small marks a busy household leaves. Micro-bevelled edges keep the boards looking tight without deep grooves that collect dirt.

Installation is nail and glue over a tongue and groove joint, and the planks are rated on, above or below grade. On a plywood subfloor they are fastened with nails, and over basement or condo concrete they go down with adhesive. A carton covers 19.45 sq ft. Matching accessories are custom order, so it helps to order them along with the flooring. The wider board suits living rooms, dens and bedrooms better than a hard-working mudroom.

Five colours are available: Astoria, Duchy Estate, Royal Mile, Surrey Hills and Yorkshire. 22FLOORING supplies and installs American Walnut across Toronto and the GTA, with engineered hardwood installation from $4.90 per square foot, including glue and nails.
