We are finishing the basement. What should go on the slab?
Concrete below ground holds moisture, so waterproof vinyl plank is the safest bet: glued at $5.50 per sq ft with the glue covered, or clicked and floated at $3.20 over a suitable underlay. When we come out to quote, we read the slab for damp and for high and low spots, then say what preparation is needed before anything is laid.
Can the staircase be done along with the main floor?
Yes, and doing both together is common in the two-storey houses here, where one flight runs up from the hall and another drops to the lower level. Remodelling runs near $7,000 for a flight, covering treads, risers and railing work, stained to sit with your new boards.
What will the whole job come to?

Do you come out to the newer subdivisions?
We do. The newer detached and semi-detached pockets up in Mount Pleasant, Springdale and Castlemore see us as often as the bungalows and backsplits in Bramalea. Travelling in from Woodbridge is simply part of how we operate.
How does the material get into the house?
Boxes come off the van in the driveway and go straight in through the front or the garage, so we need the drive kept clear on the morning of the first day. On a narrow semi with a shared drive, let us know in advance and we will schedule around it.
