Herringbone

This is Grandeur's white oak cut for herringbone, the zigzag pattern where short boards meet at right angles. Four colours, Pando, Nordic Sand, Tundra and Lagom, use 5" x 24" pieces with a smoked and brushed surface and an ABC grade. Napa Valley is larger at 6" x 36", brushed only, with a cleaner AB grade that shows fewer knots.

All five share a 3/4" thickness and 3 mm of white oak on top, and Grandeur lists them for use on, above or below grade. Herringbone takes more labour than straight planks, because every piece is laid out from a centre line and cut at the walls, so it is usually chosen for rooms where it will be seen: entrances, dining rooms and living rooms. Boxes are small, 9.70 sq ft for the 5" pieces and 8.72 sq ft for Napa Valley, so order extra for cuts. The warranty is 35 year residential.
