Northern Retreat

Northern Retreat is a wide, rugged oak floor: planks 9 1/2" across, with a light handscraped and wirebrushed surface, handscraped bevels and a variation rating of 5, Wild & Rustic. A reactive stain brings out differences in the grain, then a low-lustre UV-cured polyurethane with aluminum oxide seals it.

The boards are 5/8" thick on a multi-layer plywood core with a 4mm dry sawn wood face, and they come in random lengths up to 87". A sawn face of that depth leaves room to refinish later in the floor's life. Long, wide, strongly varied boards suit cottages, great rooms and homes with kids or pets, where marks blend into the character of the wood.

There are two colours, Hidden Hills and Deerfield, which makes choosing between samples quick.
